Editing an Existing Article
Editing existing content on your website is easy using the back-end control panel. Simply log in to your control panel (see your control panel for more information) to get started.
In this introductory article we talk only about adding or editing text, please see the rest of our series of guides for information on managing and adding media (pictures, video etc.) to your website.
While Articles are where most of your website content will live, in many designs produced by ConsultMe.org we make use of Modules to place key information in specific locations on your pages. If the content you're looking to edit is in a box or side column on your website, chances are it's a Module not an Article. For an explanation of these terms please see Understanding Your Joomla Website, for information on editing Modules please see the relevant article later in this series (link to follow when written).
Editing an Article
Once you are logged in to your back-end control panel select the Article Manager from the Content menu as show below.

You will be presented with a list of all the Articles currently on your site. This may include pages that are not published. Check the "Published" column to see the status of each Article:

If you have a lot of content you may find it helpful can use the drop down lists at the top right of the page to filter the list to only show Articles of a specific Section, Category, Author or Status. You can also sort the list by clicking on the column headings.
Locate the Article you wish to edit and click it's Title to open it for editing. You will see the following page:

Now you can simply edit or add to the existing text in the editor to update your content. The horizontal line (shown above as a red dotted line, though may also be a solid grey line on your system) represents a "Read More" break. Everything above this line will be shown on pages which only summarise Articles for example a Category Blog view, and then a "Read More" button is shown which when clicked opens the full Article, then also showing everything below the line too.
To check how your page looks after editing we recommend that you first click the "Apply" button to the top right, this saves your changes but leaves the editor open, just in case you need to make any further changes. You can then review your edited page in another browser window to check it appears correctly and then return to the browser where you have the editor open and either make further changes, or click "Save" to close the editor and return to Article Manager.
